Quantock Weekend of Orienteering (QWO)

Saturday, 26th November. Southern Night Orienteering Championships -  British Orienteering Level B Event (incorporating the Army Inter-Corps Championships)

Sunday, 27th November. Quantock SWOA Galoppen - British Orienteering Level C Event

Ramscombe, Quantock Hills.  Sat. & Sun. 26th/27th November, 2016

Venue: Ramscombe is one of the east-facing combes of the Quantock Hills which is thickly wooded, mixed, forest approached from the A39 from Bridgwater via Nether Stowey or from Taunton via Kingston-St Mary and Aisholt.  The  OS GR of the Event Centre is  ST168376 and the closest Post Code is Adscombe Farm TA5 1HN.  The Starts and Finishes for both events will be close to the Great Wood Picnic site.

Parking: Will be on forest roads and public car parks, avoiding areas that will be available to the general public, although it is thought that for Day 1 our requirement will be mainly outside the time the area is open to Public.  The Army have agreed to organize and marshal the parking, using the one-way system round the picnic site on Day 1 and using a forest track and exit from the Forest not used by the public on Day 2. Parking tickets at £2 per day (£3 for both days) will be sold at the entrance to the Forest.   Do NOT use the Pay & Display machines.

Directions: The venue will be signed from the Cottage Inn on the A39 (GR  ST211392), from the Pines Café at the top of Buncombe Hill (GR ST207329), and from Marsh Mills (GR ST192385), to the South of Nether Stowey.

Map:  1 :10000 for both days drawn and updated by Bill Vigar (QO) in 2016.  Pre-marked maps printed on waterproof paper. Some courses may use A3, some may be double sided.
